what i've learned along the way
What kind of question is this?

I've been hitched for a little over a week now, and everyone I run into has the same question . . .

"So, how does it feel to be married, Tenille?"

I find this inquiry to be a bit annoying.

No one ever felt the need to ask me, "So, Tenille. Tell me. How does it feel to be single?"

I mean, don't get me wrong. I love being married. Chris is fantastic, and we're definitely enjoying what others call the "honeymoon period". It's wonderful to wake up each day next to the man I've chosen as a life partner. He provides such an incredible sense of peace and security. We are constantly learning new things about one another, and every day is an exciting adventure. I'm crazy about him, and I'm looking forward to a lifetime of committed intimacy.

I guess the real question is this . . . "Has marriage been everything you've expected it to be?"

Since, I approach life with limited expectations, in hopes that things will turn out surprisingly better than I imagined, my answer is simple . . .

"I have NO idea! I've only been married a week!"

Perhaps I will have more to share as life unfolds. All I know is I am more hopfeul today than I have been in a long time, and my faith in God's goodness has been restored.

just tell em "fine so far" and to check back after 6 months / a year or whatever time frame ya feel like assigning.

Congratulations! How does it feel to be married?

Just kidding, about the second part.

I love questions like that. How does it feel to be a graduate? How does it feel to have a job?

Just say, "It's terrible. People keep asking me stupid questions." or "Great, but that might just be the sex."

Good luck fending everyone off. Pretty soon it'll be, "How was your honeymoon, what'd you do?" Like they really want those details.
