what i've learned along the way
. . . figuring out what I want
Published on April 30, 2005 By lobsterhunter In Misc
I'm currently considering purchasing a home. Some mornings I wake up ready to take the plunge and become a card carrying member of the American Dream. Other days I want to uproot my life and move to a foriegn country.
The irritating paradox of stability and adventure leave me feeling confused and uncertain.

Waiting on the wonderful can be highly frustrating. Especially when you can't even define what it is you really want.

Neilly: My thoughts are this...

You are the ultimate bargain hunter and you're great with decorating and fixing things up. I think you should find a cute place that needs a bit of work and turn it into something special. Then if the desire to head off for something else hits you, you can sell it for a profit, and if not, you have a great place to call your own.

I agree with Texas. But then you know how I feel about it. Or you will learn.

Brandie,

So good to hear from you. Thanks for stopping by to read my whiny thoughts. A fixer upper sounds like fun. Your suggestions are appreciated!

I'm sure I will learn. Apparently that's the whole purpose of the journey. Thanks for responding.

I say go for the adventure. There will be plenty of time for the mundane later.

Mason,

Thanks for the advice. The mundane can always wait. I'm gonna knock on the doors and see what opens.

From a current roommate standpoint...buy the house... don't leave Melissa high-and-dry.
(Also coming from the standpoint of someone who traveled the world for two years after college just for the experience...) Whatever decision you make, you just have to know that YOU are at peace with it. Don't leave yourself room for regrets and "what-ifs". Now, go therefore and Sow!

That's nothin'. I made more than double that playing on the computer and starting a load of laundry.

(Seriously, though, you must be damn good at your job!)
